Join us for a week-long TikiFest in beautiful Barcelona (Catalonia, Spain) from August 20-27. Members of the Tiki Community will meet to collaborate on several Tiki features, including:
* Extending the Tiki calendar to allow resource management (reservations and bookings)
* Improving the user interface for Tiki Workspaces
* Additional integration of CCLite (Community Currencies)
* Looking at ways to improve the overall Tiki Community by introducing collaborative code reviews, bug triage, and more.

Perspective participants are encouraged to add their own ideas, too. If you're planning to come to TikiFest, you might as well stay for WikiSym, which runs August 27-29.

Tiki Wiki CMS Groupware Updates Tiki 6.7 LTS

The Tiki Community is proud to announce the release of <strong>Tiki 6.7 LTS</strong> (Long Term support Version). This release includes bug fixes and updates only -- there are no new features in this release.

Tiki Administrators using the LTS version are encouraged to upgrade to this latest release. The Tiki 6.x branch will remain the Long Term Support version until the release of Tiki 10, planned for October 2012.

And stay tuned for the first public beta of Tiki 9.0, the next generation of Tiki Wiki CMS Groupware, that is expected to be available shortly. This new version contains a host of improvements in multiple areas and several new features. Refer to http://dev.tiki.org/Tiki9 for details.

Tiki Community members are encouraged to download and explore this new release. Issues and suggestions should be reported on the Tiki Developer site (http://dev.tiki.org). Tiki Administrators are reminded that this is a pre-release version and should not be used in production environments.

The Tiki Wiki CMS Groupware community is pleased to announce the immediate availability of Tiki 7.2. This latest release includes 117 code updates contributed by Tiki community members.

Upcoming TikiFests

Upcoming TikiFests

The Tiki Community is planning two TikiFests (code sprints) in the upcoming months. All members of the Tiki Community, as well as anyone interested in wikis and content management systems (CMS) are invited to join us!

The first event, on October 4 and 5 in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada, features technical sessions on wikis in general, held at Révolution Linux (http://www.revolutionlinux.com). Several sessions will be led by key Tiki Community leaders and Tiki Association members. For more information, see http://tiki.org/TikiFestSherbrooke8.

Planning is also underway for a design-focused TikiFest. The week-long event, tentatively planned for mid-January in Montréal, Canada, deal primarily with design, themes, and user experience. Tiki 5.4 Update Released

Tiki 5.4 Update Released

Tiki Wiki CMS Groupware project has released Tiki 5.4. This release includes minor fixes and updates only.

All Tiki administrators and site maintainers should be aware that the release of Tiki 5.4 marks the end of the life cycle and active development of the Tiki 5.x branch -- no additional 5.x releases are planned.

Active development continues on the 6.x branch, which will become the LTS (long term support) version, following the release of Tiki 7 (planned for April, 2011). Please see http://dev.tiki.org/Version+lifecycle for more information.

Tiki encourages all 5.x sites to upgrade to 5.4 and to plan for migration to Tiki 6 or Tiki 7. You can download Tiki 5.4 (and all Tiki releases) from http://tiki.org/download .

TikiFest London Wrapup


TikiFest London ended last week, making several important contributions to Tiki Wiki CMS Groupware. This code sprint, the sixth in the UK, saw:
* Implementation discussions of a Tiki Project Management feature
* Planning the Tiki Tracker Revamp
* Exploration of the removal of deprecated features (such as PHPLayersMenu, Babelfish, Image Galleries, and Xajax)

TikiFest Berlin Wrap-up



<div style="float:right;width:150px"><img src="http://info.tiki.org/display73" alt="TikiFest Berlin" /></div>The Tiki Community completed its most recent TikiFest (code sprint) in Berlin last week. TikiFest Berlin (co-located with [http://wikifestbln.org|WikiFestBLN] Nov 12-14 in Berlin, Germany) provided an opportunity for Tiki developers, end-users, and supporters to meet and plan the the future of Tiki Wiki CMS Groupware.

Many topics were discussed and much work was done for the upcoming Tiki 6.1 release including:
* Improving Tiki.org server infrastructure
* Gentoo build for Tiki distribution
* WYSIWIG strategy
* Non-interactive TRIM (Tiki Remote Instance Manager)
* Multi-level content and Tiki structures, based on perspectives and dynamic groups
* Registration procedures for parent-child and teacher-student scenarios
Additionally, several interesting talks were held, including

The Tiki Community has released the third beta for the upcoming Tiki 6.0 release. Tiki 6.0 beta 3 includes more than 80 code changes, bug fixes, and improvements.
